The Collection

Arcyria cinera The Myxomycetes Collection at the V. L. Komarov Botanical Institute, St. Petersburg (LE) comprises more than 12,000 herbarium specimens with the oldest specimen collected in 1857. The first specimens from Russia date back in the 70th of the 19th century: Trichia varia (Pers. ex J.F.Gmel.) Pers. from the European part collected in 1873 and Arcyria denudata (L.) Wettst. from the Asian part sampled in 1876. More than a third of the material was collected and determined by Y. K. Novozhilov (St. Petersburg). The collection covers around 400 taxa from about 40 countries, with the main geographic focus on Russia.


The Data Project and Service

The data project "The Myxomycetes Collection at LE" was established by Dr. Y. K. Novozhilov. Support was provided by GBIF International as part of a DIGIT Seed Money Project. "The Myxomycetes Collection at LE" uses Diversity Workbench components developed within the framework of the GBIF-D mycology project. The nomenclature follows Nomen.eumycetozoa.com.

Currently the data project "The Myxomycetes Collection at LE" is maintained and expanded by staff members of the V. L. Komarov Botanical Institute, St. Petersburg. Notices of errors of any kind are much appreciated by the editorial staff there. General IT support is provided by the Botanische Staatssammlung München and the IT Center of the Staatliche Naturwissenschaftliche Sammlungen Bayerns.
